INTAKE CLINICIAN-LICSW/LPC-MEDSTAR WASHINGTON HOSPITAL CENTER- INPATIENT PSYCHIATRY

Come work with a great team!  Signet Health manages the behavioral health services for Medstar Washington Hospital Center and has opportunities for Full-time (Day Shift) Intake Clinician

The intake clinician is an integral part of the Behavioral Health team. This person will conduct clinical assessments of prospective Emergency Department (ED) patients and determine their appropriateness for program admission. In addition, they respond to psychiatric emergencies throughout the hospital for admitted patients and those in the ambulatory clinics. Due to the expertise of this position, the intake team also supports Medstar associates with mental health crisis. The clinician is instrumental in providing support, de-escalation, and referrals for continuity of care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Knowledge of or experience in mental health and chemical dependency fields
  • Clinical experience sufficient to perform required assessment services
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and develop working, therapeutic relationships with those served
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Document in EMR, bill in patient keeper and add data to SigNetwork in before end of each shift
  • Assist in obtaining pre-authorizations and required information for the Department of Behavioral Health, as required
  • Responds to emails, fax clinical information to collateral contacts, answer phones in intake office
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Helps maintain logs and other data collection and audits
  • Become familiar with the core services agencies and other resources in the District
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements/Qualifications

Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years experience in an adult Inpatient behavioral health and substance use facility. Experience facilitating patients' access to community resources and conducting therapeutic groups is strongly preferred.  Must be flexible to adjust to the needs of a fast-paced environment, demonstrate effective problem solving skills and display proficient oral/written communication skills.   Candidates must have active DC LICSW, LPC license or be eligible for endorsement.
